Yes, among the many things I do I also teach and I love it. I adore empowering people, to see them succeed, and to be part of that process. A year ago I was asked to be on a webinar panel hosted by Fashion PR Girl: the amazing company founded by my friend Sharon Herzog. After that webinar I got contacted by a publicist from Canada.
“I heard your lesson, would you like to work with me and be the ambassador for some fashion brands I represent?”
That kindness – in one email – gave me the opportunity to start to know and collaborate with the amazing woman behind it: Joy Elena. Joy is an incredible Canadian publicist and a courageous entrepreneur. She is a mother of two children, a wife, and a creative soul. She is kind and collaborative, a great professional and a woman with a big heart.
Who are you and what is the name of your business?
I’m Joy Elena and I’m the founder of Sleep Envie . I also run a small boutique PR agency called Samari Communications.
**Many times I have been asked about opinions for great PR firms, Joy is definitely one of my favorites.
What is your brand about?
Everyone I know leads a very active lifestyle and being in PR especially I had a major case of “ Sleep Envy.” Getting some shut eye in this industry is always so important so I named my new brand Sleep Envie . Envie in French means “desire.” The bed is a special place where we work, play, snuggle and sleep. We are in it for such a long time, why not be comfortable?
Sleep Envie fundamentally believes in customization, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Individual habits and lifestyles require different sleep solutions, so we provide options for every type of sleeper and preference.
**A sneak peak: Sleep Envie is also creating a special bed for dogs. How much I love it? A lot!
What is your mission?
To improve your overall sleep experience so that all the other aspects your life can be optimized. By customizing your sleep preference your bedroom will be transformed into a place of peace and productivity.
**Arianna Huffington recently wrote a book called “The Sleep Revolution”. She says: “I was making a speech about sleep as a performance enhancer, as opposed to being lazy or not engaged with life.” And also “By helping us keep the world in perspective, sleep gives us a chance to refocus on the essence of who we are. And in that place of connection, it is easier for the fears and concerns of the world to drop away.” I think this is the kind of inspiration behind Sleep Envie: a real need in modern society.
Are you a Millennial? What do you think about Millennials?
No but I’m on the outside edge. I’m a half-millenial and I work mostly with millennials. I admire millennials. They know how to work hard and play hard. They’re motivated and risk-takers.
**Amen to that, Millennials work extremely hard and we are the opposite of being lazy. Millennials just need to be involved and feel part of something that makes them grow, improve, and change the world they live in.
If you are here it means that you love fashion. Why?
Fashion is an expression of emotion. If you’re feeling sexy then why not dress sexy to reflect the mood you’re in. It also works the other way around and can empower women and give them that extra boost of confidence. If you’re not feeling so great and then you dress in a sophisticated manner sometimes almost magically you will start to feel sophisticated. It’s a “fake it till you make it “approach. It’s empowering.
What cannot be missed from your wardrobe?
My wardrobe revolves around my dresses. There’s nothing like slipping into a nice dress, casual or dressy. They make me feel feminine and some I consider a piece of art.
Your favorite pair of shoes and why?
My Valentino two-toned rocketed pumps. I always look forward to wearing them and I don’t think they’ll ever go out of style. Even if they do, I’ll wear them anyways.
What is your style and what can you not stand in people, inside and out?
My style is chic and modern without being overdone. I follow the latest trends but don’t let them dictate what I wear. I can’t stand people who are fake and who try to be something that they are not.

What is your fashion mantra?
Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself, Coco Chanel.
**This is such a deep truth that never fades. Look at yourself and make a change, said Michael Jackson. When you have that courage you can show to the world who you really are, and that is what everyone is waiting for.
What is that magic word that speaks about you and only you can show it to our readers?
S.P.U.N.K – Supportive, Persuasive, Understated, Never takes no for an answer, Passionate.
What is a wish that you would commit to grant this year to someone paying it forward?
