Empowering Style. The Celebrity Wishmaker Simonetta Lein Goes To NYFW where social media forecasts fashion

My New York Fashion Week this year glamourously started like this:
Cover Story Of The Day: Interview With Simonetta Lein, Top 100 Fashion Influencer – For Fashion Week Online
My look was inspired by the Eighties and pop culture. The gold sunglasses together with my necklace were my statement as a woman who isn’t afraid of showing that she is a girl boss. This look was picked out on day two of NYFW, as with my street style I was forecasting much of what we saw on the fashion week runways.
One big statement rings loud and clear at this fashion week: social media has the power to test trends . They can therefore be proposed and decided upon when you see those trends becoming reality on the runways shows.
The Eighties were starting to come back in the previous season, and this new Spring Summer 2018 is giving them a leading role. NYFW Spring 2018 espouses colors, statement pieces, Eighties and Nighties and their excesses. Puff shoulders alternated with what almost seems as a “non styled” outfit that recalls the street looks from that period, with pastel colors and masculine lines.
Colors are in: social media gets inspired by fashion and vice versa. Pink is the social media queen color (with some red accents), AKA Millennial pink, as well as the unicorn vibes , with lavender tones and multi-color vibrations. This means that the fashion industry is very receptive towards the Millennial generation and it is listening to them.

Another big trend is the squared neckline as we can see in the previous picture. Puffed shoulders straight out of the Eighties, Polka dots reminiscent of the Fifties in a modern key, and maxi jackets and shoulders that remind me of growing up in the late Eighties. Truth. WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND, always.

Tom Ford’s vision of the Eighties (look number two) comes through with a clean feminine look that every woman would like to wear. Of course, the big star of the show is always Millennial Pink.
We first saw fanny packs coming back on social media a few months ago, again straight from the late Eighties and early Nineties. Here they are: the purses that you do not touch. They came back and they are here to stay.

Other trends I would like to mention are that total white is back, uneven lines are back as well as industrial materials.
The common thread to me is how social media is influencing the runways shows. When influencers propose a trend in the months before the shows, that trend becomes a must in the fashion industry . Once again, social media will set many more trends, so just be there and watch, or try to be part of it. This is the magic of social media.
As always, make your wishes come true.
