Training 20 adolescent girls and young mothers in tailoring project in Uganda
Date Published:
My wish is to to train the disadvantaged and poor adolescent girls, youth and young mothers through vocational and skill development training.
We thought of establishing a vocational training center to train the youth with basic life skills. We envisage that the time is now because the most crucial and urgent need of all the youth lies in the directing, facilitating and empowering them in achieving skills which are relevant to our current and dire situation. This need basically captures the situation and circumstances in which the youth in Otuke and Omoro Districts experienced.
The proposed project is to provide basic life skills to school dropout young people through tailoring projects. It is an initiative that has been designed in good faith by our organization as a tool worth solving the vicious circle of poverty among the youth in Otuke and Omoro Districts of Uganda (Northern Region).
There are high rates of unemployment in our community and the country at large among the age of (14– 22). Average Learning Achievement of the students is not satisfied. There is rampant school dropout among school going children and many students fail to obtain the necessary results to continue with further study – therefore these students should not be left to ‘fail’. School drop-outs and youths lose hope and end up loitering, becoming irresponsible in the community and often find themselves engaging themselves in misconduct of all kinds like alcohol & drug addictions, gambling, prostitution, thefts, robbery and among others. Positive attention to educate and skill the youth would help to reduce the vices eminent among the youth.
We are raising funds for purchasing tailoring equipment and learning materials. We need 10 sewing machines and learning materials and the rest we have it.
I am looking for any well-wishers/generous people out there who can help support our project.
