Renovation of Primary School Classrooms in Nkhotakota - MAlawi

Date Published: 7/12/2023

The Walls of the School Classrooms in Nkhotakota District if not painted before being handed over, they will never be painted. If they were fortunate to be painted before being used, that was the first and last paint for the walls. Some School classroom walls were painted more than 20 years ago and up to now they have never been repainted because the school doesn’t have funds to paint classrooms since Malawi has Free Education for Primary School.
The walls of the Classrooms are dirty and not appealing for education environment. The walls have neither decorations nor posters. The dirtiness of the walls is caused by children who enter the classrooms during weekend who either touch the walls with dirty hands or write on the walls with dirty objects making it look nasty.
The project is planning to paint the walls of the classrooms and then install doors with lock to prevent entry during weekend or after school hours. Most of the schools do not have fence surrounding the School to prevent entry into school premises.
