I hope this email finds you well!
Accept greetings from Community Relief and Development Action (COREDA). COREDA is a non-profit educational and development driven organization registered in Cameroon with the mission of empowering and sustainably improving the living conditions of orphans and vulnerable children, women and disadvantaged rural and indigenous forest communities in the South West English speaking region of Cameroon with focus on holistic and inclusive education/training, community development, water, hygiene and sanitation and the promotion of livelihood initiatives for poverty alleviation and economic autonomy for the less privileged.
We have noted with keen interest The Wishwall Foundation and we are thrilled to approach you for partnership towards our ongoing inclusive and holistic educational and skill building program for orphans, vulnerable and internally displaced children in the semi-urban slum community of Tiko, majority of whom are affected directly by abject poverty and the ongoing war and arm conflicts in the South West and North West English Speaking Regions of Cameroon.
It is worth noting that the Tiko community with relative stability has been a safety net for many Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) especially children and women since the escalation of the ongoing sociopolitical situation and arm conflicts in the two English speaking regions of Cameroon. These IDPs need humanitarian assistance but also and more importantly , access to WASH, education and and empowerment that could guarantee their reinsertion into economic and social life.
While many privileged children have long been relocated to safe Francophone zones, the education of less privileged ones is in serious jeopardy. We believe education can't wait and children's right to education must be sustained in the face of the ensuing war to guarantee a brighter future. Based on this premise and moved by compassion, we are running an inclusive and holistic primary educational program targeting orphans, vulnerable and internally displaced children from Nursery 1&2 to the 6th grade serving over 200 children in a socially inclusive environment. Most children in our school lack basic supplies and cry on a daily basis in school because of hunger.
After having established an elementary and primary school, it breaks our hearts that we are not able to provide education to these children above the 6th grade. We are building a technical and vocational secondary school which will provide higher grade technical, vocational and entrepreneurial skills to children above the 6th grade for job creation and economy autonomy. We are offering technical and vocational education in building and construction, electricity, clothing industry/dress making, plumbing, Welding/sheet metal fabrication, carpentry and joinery and home economics/hospital management with cross cutting modules on entrepreneur and digital skills. We have been able to raise the school building and classes started in September 2023 with a current enrollment of 128 students. However , we are in desperate need of equipment & tools, computers, library and additional furniture to meet anticipated increased in enrollment.
Please let us know how you are able to help us.
