She-Digitizes Advances Digital Empowerment for 150 Women and Girls in Oyam
Oyam, Uganda – March 2026 – The Network Girl Tech Initiative Uganda, with generous support from Simonetta Lein and The Wishwall Foundation, is proud to announce that all essential equipment for the She-Digitizes: Empowering Women with Technology initiative has been successfully purchased, with solar installation currently underway at the Wishwall Digital Hub in Oyam District at the Women’s Innovation and Skilling Centre.
This important milestone strengthens digital access for women and girls in rural Uganda. The eight-month initiative will train 100 women—absolute beginners—and 50 school girls in practical, income-generating digital skills aligned with today’s global economy.
At the core of She-Digitizes is a fully solar-powered system designed to eliminate electricity barriers and ensure uninterrupted learning. The newly acquired 1 kW high-efficiency solar panels, 1.5 kVA pure sine inverter, and 200 Ah lithium/gel battery bank are currently being installed, creating a reliable, bill-free power source for continuous innovation and training at the Hub.
The program will run in two four-month fast-track batches:
• Batch One: 50 Women + 25 School Girls
• Batch Two: 50 Women + 25 School Girls
Participants will receive hands-on instruction in digital foundations, brand design using Canva, Google tools for business operations, AI-powered productivity, and virtual assistance. In the final month of training, each participant will develop a professional digital portfolio and prepare to offer services such as design, data management, and remote administrative support to global clients.
She-Digitizes is more than digital literacy—it is a pathway to economic independence, confidence, and global connectivity. By equipping women with market-ready skills, the initiative empowers them to generate income from rural Uganda while participating in international digital markets.
Transparency remains a cornerstone of the project. Through weekly “Impact Wednesday” updates, the Hub will share milestone photographs, short lab diary videos, and progress stories across social media platforms and on The Wishwall Foundation website, allowing supporters and partners to follow the journey and celebrate achievements in real time.
“This installation represents long-term opportunity,” said Vivian Nantambi, Executive Director of The Network Girl Tech Initiative Uganda. “With the support of Simonetta Lein and The Wishwall Foundation, we are building a sustainable digital future for women and girls in Oyam District.”
Upon completion of the eight-month cycle, the solar infrastructure will remain a permanent asset of the Wishwall Digital Hub, ensuring that thousands more women and girls can continue accessing digital training in the years ahead.
