Holocaust Remembrance Artist Program in Vienna

Date Published: 1/25/2025

On January 27, 2025 – the 80th Anniversary of International Holocaust Remembrance Day – the Future Freedom Project will bring together ten Jewish emerging artists from the United States, Poland, Germany, Ukraine, Israel and Austria for a week-long exploration of Jewish identity through creative disciplines such as writing, dance, music, and theater, film, and visual arts in Vienna. The program is dedicated to honoring and celebrating Jewish heritage through the arts, providing an essential platform for Jewish artists to uphold the mission of remembrance and awareness for a generation whose direct representation is diminishing. This initiative aims to inspire artists to create impactful work that addresses the rise of antisemitic rhetoric. The artists will engage in group workshops, coaching sessions, remembrance visits to Jewish historical sites and and highlighting the artists' work with a public showcase and exhibition in Vienna lasting through Passover.

With one month before our inaugural program is anticipated to begin, we are still facing challenges in securing support from traditional funding organizations due to the current political climate surrounding this initiative.
