Helping Trauma Survivors Heal

Hello! My name is Tarah Galloway and I am an entrepreneur and a licensed clinical professional counselor and art therapist from Schaumburg, Illinois. I opened my private practice about 3 years ago after I stepped away from working at a non-profit agency (after 5 years) that helped women and children heal from exposure to violence. Even though I don't work at that particular agency anymore, I still have an intense passion to help women and children grow and heal from trauma (i.e. sexual assault/abuse, emotional and physical abuse, violence, death, bullying, trauma from caregivers, grief and loss, illness, sex trafficking etc.).
In my current private practice it is just my dog and me. But I want it to be SO MUCH MORE, so much greater than just me!
I want to open a larger practice that can offer women and children who have experienced trauma, the services they desperately need, regardless of whether or not they can afford services or have insurance.
I alone can only help so many people heal and recover after trauma. I currently have a 6-month long waiting list because I cannot physically help anyone else at this time. My practice is bursting at the seams, but I want to help everyone. This is where the Wishwall could help significantly!
My dream is to operate a practice that employs at least 10 therapists, a functional medicine doctor, trauma informed massage therapists, yoga instructors, and energy healers. I would love the center to have a playroom, an art studio, a yoga room, individual offices for all healers, meditation rooms, and an outdoor space to enjoy nature.
This practice would be a safe place for women and children to grow, heal, and connect with the very best version of themselves. In this safe space, they would be able to heal from the inside out - mind, body and soul.
They could learn that their trauma does not define them. They could connect with the strength that has always been inside of them, and reignite their inner light. But best of all, they could then share that light with the rest of the world again. And finally but most importantly, they could learn to trust again. Trauma can significantly damage our ability to trust in others. They could also have experiences that show them that not everyone wants to hurt them, and that people can actually care deeply.
Currently I haven't been able to get approved for the type of loan it would take to be able to open this kind of practice. I need someone to see my vision and believe in it as well. Someone who is not a predatory lender, which is all I have been able to find :( I know I have been blessed with an incredible gift to heal others and help them to move forward with their lives. I desperately want to share this gift with so many more people, but am so limited by my financial situation.
It's not a matter of "if" this dream will come true, it's a matter of when. I just know it! I'm determined to make this happen no matter what! Too many people are needlessly suffering after horrific experiences. I want to help heal the trauma of the world in an integrative and holistic way that honors and respects these survivors as the amazing human beings that they are. Even changing the life of just one woman or child can have a profound ripple effect. Who knows what that individual will go on to do in their life, or what other lives they may touch! I hope the Wishwall can help me on my mission!
