Through the #SheTailors program, supported by the amazing Wishwall Foundation and led by The Network Girl Tech Initiative Uganda, I now have the chance to learn skills that will help me provide for my family — clothes, bags, shoes… stitched with hope. ✂️🧵

Beyond capturing carbon, trees are fundamental to creating healthy ecosystems and resilient communities. They regulate water supplies, prevent soil erosion, provide crucial habitats for wildlife, and generate economic opportunities to communities in need. In many ways, trees remain a cornerstone in the fight against climate change and environmental degradation, making them an irreplaceable part of restoring degraded landscapes. This project is Implemented by Dream International in Rwenzori Mountains in partnership with Wish wall Foundation

To alleviate these environmental and financial risks, Dream International in partnership with The Wishwall Foundation is implementing Nature-Based Solutions such as agroforestry and regenerative agriculture. By strategically planting trees alongside crops and livestock, agroforestry contributes to the livelihoods of local farmers while also balancing ecosystems and agricultural systems. An amazing aspect of agroforestry is its flexibility across different climates and landscapes. Best practices involve selecting native tree species like Musizi trees that benefit the local context, targeting different impacts based on the specific needs of the land—such as enhancing biodiversity, regenerating soils, preserving water sources, and preventing erosion.

“Sustainable School Garden Update: Harvest Time Is Here!
We’re thrilled to share that our cabbage plants are starting to produce vegetables! As we complete the final weeding, we’re filled with excitement and gratitude. This milestone marks a significant step towards achieving our goal of creating a sustainable and self-sufficient garden.
The Wishwall Foundation’s continued support has been instrumental in the success of this project. Their funding has enabled us to provide our students with hands-on experience in sustainable gardening practices, promoting environmental stewardship and healthy eating habits.

Among the students, Mary, a 10-year-old girl with dreams of becoming a teacher, expresses her joy at the changes. “It feels good to study in a nice place. Vulnerable communities, in particular, are disproportionately affected by climate change. Women happen to be one of those vulnerable groups. Even if they contribute extraordinarily to restoration initiatives, existing social norms and secondary treatment ensure they don’t get the benefits of their labor. Dream International in partnership with Wishwall Foundation, women have to undergo training and environmental education, covering long-term tree care, sustainable farming and foraging practices, and the basics of running a business of their own. It’s also an excellent opportunity for youth because they can start early and become experts much sooner than their previous generations. Thank you wish wall foundation for this unique opportunity.

Environmental conservation is delivered as an experience that is deeply imprinted in each child’s mind rather than curriculum based. The well-being of our environment is the foundation of our society. When vital ecosystems become endangered, we drastically increase the risk of food insecurity, poverty, and supply chain disruptions. To alleviate these environmental and financial risks, Dream International in partnership with The Wishwall Foundation is implementing Nature-Based Solutions such as agroforestry and regenerative agriculture. By strategically planting trees alongside crops and livestock, agroforestry contributes to the livelihoods of local farmers while also balancing ecosystems and agricultural systems. An amazing aspect of agroforestry is its flexibility across different climates and landscapes. Best practices involve selecting native tree species like Musizi trees that benefit the local context, targeting different impacts based on the specific needs of the land—such as enhancing biodiversity, regenerating soils, preserving water sources, and preventing erosion.

Trees support the livelihoods of billions of people and animals worldwide . Successful agroforestry accomplishes more than just mitigating climate change and revitalizing the natural environment.It actively improves the livelihood of farmers by providing increased resilience for crop production, as well as generating opportunities for diversifying revenue streams.
This project will work with Marginalised women, children in school, youth, people with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples. These are the groups society forgets, but they are amazing agents of change in the fight against the climate crisis
We’re thrilled to announce the official progression of our Sustainable school Garden Project at Green valley primary school nansana !
On the 1st of October we kicked off our journey to transform the small school space into a thriving garden, promoting sustainable agriculture , making availability of nutritious foods and reducing plastic waste.
Our team trained 20 students and 10 community members in:
Vertical gardening using recycled plastic waste,
Sustainable agriculture practices and Environmental conservation.
Nurturing For Future Development Organization-Uganda is indebted to the Wishwall Foundation for their visionary funding .

Many tree products that benefit women are collected from wild populations in forests, woodlands/ rangelands, parklands or on farms. With the increase in population, some of the products are becoming scarce and women have to walk longer distances. Promoting participatory agroforestry will therefore enable integration of these valuable species into appropriate farming systems.Thank you Wishwall Foundation for the incredible work you doing to the communities of Rwenzori mountains in Western Uganda

In our small school village of Kigoma , today a group of children gathered under a majestic tree, eager to learn. With no classroom or resources, their dedicated teacher, Mrs. Betty, used the tree’s shade as their classroom. The children sat on the dry earth, their faces lit with excitement.
As Mrs. Betty taught, the children wrote in the dust with sticks, practicing their alphabet and arithmetic. The wind whispered secrets through the leaves, and the children’s laughter echoed through the village.
Thank you for this commitment from the WishwallFoundation especially Director Lien as, the classroom is undergoing fundamental renovation and upgrade for better learning spaces.
One child, Sarah, was particularly eager. She practiced writing her name in the dust, her eyes shining with pride. Mrs. Betty smiled, knowing that Sarah’s determination would take him far.
