A place of refuge

Many years ago, I wrote on Facebook about my encounter with a young boy who told me had not had a meal since a night before. Even though there was nothing that suggested he was hungry, I parted with the little change on me and I was surprised to see how he raced down immediately to get some bread. I was happy that I had helped after all. The assumption that people could be lying about their condition happens all the time and that informed my decision to be of help if I can, no matter what.

Many years later, I met a widowed woman, who was left with 4 children. I had met her through her lovely kids, I just couldn't help but in tears when she told me about her ordeals. I was raising some turkeys at the time, I had no choice but to give her everything that was left after I had sold for Xmas. I lost communication and after some years got her contact and I got the shock of my life. A man had a relationship with her and impregnated her with a promise to help her and her kids financially and then she had a baby girl who the man later refused to accept responsibility for. I just couldn't know what to do.

But I wish I could have a farm settlement where the proceeds could go onto helping poor and the needy, especially having vulnerable people stay in the settlement until things can be better. Atleast, we rise by helping one another
