TECHNICAL PROPOSAL FOR SOURCING FUNDS TO HELP THE ELDERLY WHO ARE IN NEED OF HEALTH CARE

Themba Home Care Nursing mobile Clinic has identified 25 ageing people through our Facebook page, through a church member, some of them we meet just by the road, and others through a link from fellow medical personnel. Our past work in the project site shows that most elderly persons in the area face one or all of the following issues Extreme poverty due to lack of income; like our client in area 21 he stays in a very bad conditional house with a lot of cracks ,and sleeps on the floor due to poverty. He even fail to go to hospital to change catheter because he does not have money for transportation. He has children but are failing to give him full support . The proposed project is to create an age friendly environment in the form of elderly support health services. These services will ensure that the senior citizens in the area get proper health care support and also get suitable opportunities for their overall well-being. According to our budget we are looking for MK400,600,00. This money will help us to maintenance their houses, and allowing medical professionals like Nurse, Doctors and Physiotherapist to go to their homes and deliver medical services.
Lack of adequate food; Malawi diet consist of largely of staples, primarily maize as well as rice and cassava, but Themba has found out that most elderlies they sleep with an empty stomach because they don’t have food. Most of them cultivate half or less of their total land because they are physically weak.
Medical condition; heart disease is the leading cause of death for the adults here in Malawi. Themba home nursing care has found out that most of clients have this medical problem and are on ant hypertensive drugs. Condition like high blood pressure need to be managed properly and taking good care of. Everyday blood pressure monitoring is very important for people with hypertensive, but most of our clients do not have sphygmomanometer to checking their blood pressure.
Themba home nursing care also realized that others stopped taking ant hypertensive drugs saying they are tired of taking them daily as the results their Blood pressure became high. Furthermore a lot of them need health talk on how best they can manage their condition, including life style approaches that can help in lowering Blood pressure
Diabetes mellitus; it is estimated that 25% of adults age 65 and older have type 2 diabetes. The sooner you know are at risk or have diabetes the sooner you can begin managing your sugar and making lifestyle changes that can better control it. Some of our clients are on insulin administration and they don’t have the machine to check their blood sugar level before giving themselves insulin which is very risky.
