After the War — All I Need Is a Place for the Two of Us

My name is Sasun Baghdasaryan. I am a 21-year-old veteran of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war. I served as a conscript in Jabrayil and was injured during the war — I sustained shrapnel wounds to my head and a gunshot wound to my leg. Despite that, I returned to the battlefield after a brief hospitalization to fight alongside my comrades until the end.

Before the war, I lived in Hadrut with my grandparents, who raised me. During the conflict, I lost my home and, most painfully, my grandfather — Valeri Vardanyan, a 72-year-old volunteer who fought and died defending our town. He stayed behind for me, and I never got to see him again.

Today, I live in Yerevan in a rented apartment with my elderly grandmother, who now depends on me. Although I work, my salary barely covers the rent, and we are living in very difficult conditions.

My sincere wish is to have a small but stable and safe place to live, where I can take care of my grandmother and rebuild my life with dignity. If anyone can support us with temporary housing or any kind of help, it will not only be support for me — it will be an act of respect to those who gave their lives for our homeland.
