An entire forest grew because of a wish granted!

The well-being of our environment is the foundation of our society. When vital ecosystems become endangered, we drastically increase the risk of food insecurity, poverty, and supply chain disruptions. To alleviate these environmental and financial risks, Dream International in partnership with The Wishwall Foundation is implementing Nature-Based Solutions such as agroforestry and regenerative agriculture. By strategically planting trees alongside crops and livestock, agroforestry contributes to the livelihoods of local farmers while also balancing ecosystems and agricultural systems. An amazing aspect of agroforestry is its flexibility across different climates and landscapes. Best practices involve selecting native tree species like Musizi trees that benefit the local context, targeting different impacts based on the specific needs of the land—such as enhancing biodiversity, regenerating soils, preserving water sources, and preventing erosion.

The well-being of our environment is the foundation of our society. When vital ecosystems become endangered, we drastically increase the risk of food insecurity, poverty, and supply chain disruptions. To alleviate these environmental and financial risks, Dream International in partnership with The Wishwall Foundation is implementing Nature-Based Solutions such as agroforestry and regenerative agriculture. By strategically planting trees alongside crops and livestock, agroforestry contributes to the livelihoods of local farmers while also balancing ecosystems and agricultural systems. An amazing aspect of agroforestry is its flexibility across different climates and landscapes. Best practices involve selecting native tree species like Musizi trees that benefit the local context, targeting different impacts based on the specific needs of the land—such as enhancing biodiversity, regenerating soils, preserving water sources, and preventing erosion.

Vulnerable communities, in particular, are disproportionately affected by climate change. Women happen to be one of those vulnerable groups. Even if they contribute extraordinarily to restoration initiatives, existing social norms and secondary treatment ensure they don’t get the benefits of their labor. Dream International in partnership with Wishwall Foundation, women have to undergo training and environmental education, covering long-term tree care, sustainable farming and foraging practices, and the basics of running a business of their own.
