Who do I contact with needing help with Christmas for two of my children this year? I have never had to reach out for help, went through a domestic violence relationship of 13 years and got out, finally secured my own place and genuinely wondering what I can do, for toys for tots for my kids ages 6(boy) & 12(girl).

In many ways, trees remain a cornerstone in the fight against climate change and environmental degradation, making them an irreplaceable part of restoring degraded landscapes. This project is Implemented by Dream International in Rwenzori Mountains in partnership with Wish wall Foundation

The well-being of our environment is the foundation of our society. When vital ecosystems become endangered, we drastically increase the risk of food insecurity, poverty, and supply chain disruptions. To alleviate these environmental and financial risks, Dream International in partnership with The Wishwall Foundation is implementing Nature-Based Solutions such as agroforestry and regenerative agriculture. By strategically planting trees alongside crops and livestock, agroforestry contributes to the livelihoods of local farmers while also balancing ecosystems and agricultural systems. An amazing aspect of agroforestry is its flexibility across different climates and landscapes. Best practices involve selecting native tree species like Musizi trees that benefit the local context, targeting different impacts based on the specific needs of the land—such as enhancing biodiversity, regenerating soils, preserving water sources, and preventing erosion.

Vulnerable communities, in particular, are disproportionately affected by climate change. Women happen to be one of those vulnerable groups. Even if they contribute extraordinarily to restoration initiatives, existing social norms and secondary treatment ensure they don’t get the benefits of their labor. Dream International in partnership with Wishwall Foundation, women have to undergo training and environmental education, covering long-term tree care, sustainable farming and foraging practices, and the basics of running a business of their own. It’s also an excellent opportunity for youth because they can start early and become experts much sooner than their previous generations. Thank you wish wall foundation for this unique opportunity.

Dream International in partnership with the wishwall foundation is implementing a Project to create green consciousness among school going children through a mind-set change by involving them in seedlings production and plantation. Environmental conservation is delivered as an experience that is deeply imprinted in each child’s mind rather than curriculum based. On the 1st of October we kicked off our journey to transform the small school space into a thriving garden, promoting sustainable agriculture , making availability of nutritious foods and reducing plastic waste. Dream International in partnership with The Wishwall Foundstion is extending the project planting for the restoration of landscapes in Rwenzori mountains. Forests are vital to our planet. Trees support the livelihoods of billions of people and animals worldwide . Successful agroforestry accomplishes more than just mitigating climate change and revitalizing the natural environment.It actively improves the livelihood of farmers by providing increased resilience for crop production, as well as generating opportunities for diversifying revenue streams. This project will work with Marginalised women, children in school, youth, people with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples. These are the groups society forgets, but they are amazing agents of change in the fight against the climate crisis

The ongoing school renovation is progressing well, with significant improvements being made to the infrastructure. This project is focused on creating a safer, more conducive learning environment for the students. The renovations will not only enhance the physical condition of the school but also uplift the overall educational experience. Many tree products that benefit women are collected from wild populations in forests, woodlands/ rangelands, parklands or on farms. With the increase in population, some of the products are becoming scarce and women have to walk longer distances. In our small school village of Kigoma , today a group of children gathered under a majestic tree, eager to learn. With no classroom or resources, their dedicated teacher, Mrs. Betty, used the tree’s shade as their classroom. The children sat on the dry earth, their faces lit with excitement. As Mrs. Betty taught, the children wrote in the dust with sticks, practicing their alphabet and arithmetic. The wind whispered secrets through the leaves, and the children’s laughter echoed through the village. Thank you for this commitment from the WishwallFoundation especially Director Lien as, the classroom is undergoing fundamental renovation and upgrade for better learning spaces. One child, Sarah, was particularly eager. She practiced writing her name in the dust, her eyes shining with pride. Mrs. Betty smiled, knowing that Sarah’s determination would take him far.

School gardens can serve as mini ecosystems, attracting a variety of plant species. By creating habitats for different creatures, children learn about the importance of diversity in sustaining a balanced environment. Planting 600.000 trees and involving the children to teach them respect and love for nature. Dream International in partnership with @thewishwallfoundation is implementing a Project to create green consciousness among school going children through a mind-set change by involving them in seedlings production and plantation. Environmental conservation is delivered as an experience that is deeply imprinted in each child’s mind rather than curriculum based. School Tree Planting projects help connect students to the benefits of trees and foster environmental stewardship.

Children and teachers gathered to witness the start of what they hoped would be a transformative journey. The anticipation was palpable as they eagerly awaited the first signs of change. Children clung to the fence, their eyes wide with wonder as they watched the construction materials being set up. The community was buzzing with excitement as today marked the beginning of a much-anticipated journey—the renovation of Kigoma Primary School. The school’s worn-out walls and dilapidated infrastructure were a stark contrast to the vibrant spirit of the community. Everyone knew that this renovation was more than just a physical transformation and it was a beacon of hope for better education and a brighter future. The school’s main hall, a large room that had seen many assemblies, was chosen as the venue for the kick-off meeting. Despite its age, the hall was filled with an air of optimism. Rows of chairs were neatly arranged, a projector was set up, and the walls were adorned with colorful posters showcasing the school’s history and the renovation plans. Stakeholders from all walks of life began to trickle in. Parents, teachers, local government officials, representatives from the Muwanga Development Association, and a few local business owners took their seats, chatting animatedly about the upcoming project. At the front of the room stood Mr. John Lusoke, the headmaster of Kigoma Primary School. With a warm smile, he called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone. “Today marks a significant milestone in our journey,” he began. “Our beloved school is not just a place of learning it’s a cornerstone of our community impacting over 1,000 students. This renovation project is a collective effort and has be waited for over 25 years, and I am thrilled to see so many of you here today. Thank you the WISH WALL FOUNDATION for the support.

#WishGranted Dream International in partnership with the wishwall foundation is implementing a agroforestry project. Agroforestry can generate multiple livelihood and environmental benefits, as it can help to mitigate climate change and help farmers to adapt to extreme and variable weather. In this project, Agroforestry has supported ecosystem services, such as regulation of water and nutrient cycling in soils – leading to for example increased soil fertility, reduced soil erosion and flood and pest control. Smallholder farmers have also benefited from agroforestry through increased farm productivity, diversified produce and reduction of external inputs.
