More Lessons from Lolla

These lyrics sum up last week in several ways.
I wish to celebrate my friend Harry Hudson’s stellar Lolla set. Harry adds another lesson from Lolla with a memorable stage presence and bridge from social media to social skills: He invites members of the crowd to say hello to someone they don’t know. The energy catches on and carries him from live versions of favorite tracks on “The Legend of the Yellow Roseâ€. When I chatted with Harry in person in June at a TeenCancerAmerica.org LA event, he was taking a quick studio break. He promised to debut new live songs at Lolla
And Harry certainly delivered! His music is evolving from a fun folk/pop/country/rap blend to his own engaging style.

“Just Slide†is part of Harry’s growth and strengths. The roles were flipped for Harry Hudson and Jaden Smith: Last summer Harry performed with Jaden during his Lolla set, now Smith joined Hudson at from “Just Slide†and a snippet from Jaden’s new album.
Harry tripled his crowd from opening song to his lively last one! Now those are some sweet social skills. Bravo, Harry!!
Harry is now 5.5 years cancer free. Next he’ll tour with Jaden Smith in Europe.
Fun Lolla Drop-in
Chance the Rapper wasn't booked for Lolla this year, but by the end of the weekend, he practically performed an entire set. He dropped his album "The Big Day" the Friday before Lolla began, and spent the weekend performing several "Day" songs live for the first time with album collaborators who were part of the lineup, including Death Cab for Cutie, Calboy and Smino.
The whole day at Lolla was uplifting. It was that night that we heard sad news:
I also wish to honor Nora Leonard, her parents Kelly and Anne, and friends from #TeamNora.
Nora passed away after battling cancer for 1 year; she was just 17.
