Fund A Bunnykat, Save Lives!
Date Published:
According to UNAIDS, in Africa, 6 out of 7 new HIV infections among adolescents aged 15-19 years were among girls. Women and girls accounted 62% of all new HIV infections in 2021 and only 50% of children living with HIV received the lifesaving treatment they need.
Our new charming handmade, Bunnykats are created by Woza Moya crafters in South Africa. Woza Moya is the economic empowerment project of the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust, dedicated to providing unconditional love and hope to those affected by HIV/AIDS. Each Bunnykat supports the livelihoods of at least four crafters: one creates the doll, another crochets the vest, a third makes the skirts and shorts, and a fourth embroiders the face.
Our wish is that we will be able to sell hundreds of Bunnykats which will provide a stable income for hundreds of women living with HIV in South Africa! This enables them to support their families, adhere to their HIV medications, and create pride in their work and hope for their communities.
