Date Published:
Ruiri Rwarera ward is a ward in Meru County of Kenya. This is an area with erratic and unreliable rains which has left the area Dry with little or no vegetation. The people in this area are faced with poverty, lack of food . The water scarcity is an issues where women and girls walk for long distances to fetch water. This leaves them with many challenges including water borne diseases.
In one of the villages, there is a water spring which is open and community around the spring fetch water from there and the animals come to drink from the spring.
Our wish is to protect the spring by fencing and collecting water together to have the people fetching and animals drinking water without contaminating the water. The spring will also be rehabilitated with trees which will cover the spring and help in the conservation of the water. The clean water will be used by the families and will be reliable as it will be stored in a big tank to be distributed.
