A Time to be Selfless

Last week I wrote about some important programs who's federal budgets may be slashed. Soon after the post, the controversial quarterback Colin Kaepernick donated $50,000 to Meals on Wheels.
No matter how you feel about him for kneeling during the nation anthem, you have to respect that he's putting his money where his mouth is. He's said that there is an injustice happening in America and he's using his funds to help change that.
Along with the $50k to Meals on Wheels, he has also donated $1 Million to Black Lives Matter and another $50,000 to the water protectors at Standing Rock. Right now at We Take Note we are putting together an event to help raise funds for their forthcoming legal fees.
Actress Shailene Woodley just reached a plea deal for her time spent on the Sioux Reservation. Countless others are still awaiting their sentences. My wish is the same as last week. Find something you are passionate about and give. Whether it's with money, volunteering, or the always important sharing on social media. Now more than ever is a time to give, - a time to be selfless instead of selfish.
