Future Entrepreneurs: Celebration & Inspiration
Date Published: 11/16/2017
“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.†~Oprah Winfrey
Well, we have celebrating to do don’t we? It’s mid-November, so the invites are coming in with many reasons to celebrate. I send our American readers #Thanksgiving cheers and whether you’re cooking a turkey, tofurky, turducken or going out, I wish you time to relax and reflect. I am grateful for you reading Future Entrepreneurs over the last 8 months!
Before we go on holiday break, let’s look at how and why celebrating can help us make changes in life and business. Often this side of review and evaluation gets missed. We focus on what’s not working so we can change it…and we forget to acknowledge what’s gone well and to pause purposefully and celebrate it.
Perhaps you took our pulse check at the 6-month mark?

We are all on the journey to achieving our goals. Celebrating both small and significant successes helps us stay inspired and know that our dreams are in the works.
Schedule at least an hour this week to celebrate your success, whether big or small! You deserve it!
We looked to artists in action
this summer.
Artists in Action: Updates & Inspiration
Teen Cancer America [https://www.teencanceramerica.org] founder, Pete Townshend, worked alongside fellow rock stars Billy Idol, Eddie Vedder and Alfie Boe to bring the rock opera “Classic Quadrophenia†stateside this summer. Originally released in 1973, this unique experience is a beautiful mix of classical and pop music, which wowed the audience. Not only did they have ticket proceeds from a few of the shows going to Teen Cancer America, but they also donated all proceeds from a special Chicago viewing at the Rosemont Theatre with the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra and the Chicago Children’s Choir.
They donated over $700,000 from shows in 4 cities including this special Chicago viewing.
“We really do appreciate all of the support we can get in our mission to transform the lives of teenagers with cancer. Our founders are passionate to deliver these services throughout America and Chicago is a city close to their hearts. We are already working with Comer and Lurie hospitals in Chicago and we hope to do more,†Simon Davies, Executive Director, Teen Cancer America.
Hernan Barangan, filmmaker of the Cancer Rebellion [http://www.cancerrebellion.com] series and documentary feature, captured stories from teen and young adult cancer patients from the Hispanic community at the Miller Children's and Women's Hospital in Long Beach, CA. The piece was commissioned by Teen Cancer America to reach out to an underserved population in the cancer community.
The Spanish speaking film highlights the experience and insights of young Latinos and their parents. "This will educate and spread awareness of the unique needs of young people from this community", said Barangan, whose own mother is Spanish. ¡Buen trabajo, Hernan!
A weekend in LA next March doing something good for charity might appeal to our colleagues, friends and family and we really would appreciate your support as you set goals for the new year.
We’re looking for runners for the full 26.2 mile Marathon race and the Charity Challenge Race - 13.1 miles on Sunday, March 18. Both these races start at the Dodgers Stadium in Downtown LA and finish at the beach in Santa Monica! It's the 5th largest Marathon and runs a great historic route passing the Hollywood sign as well as other iconic places and of course the weather is always great!! The registration fee is $170 for the full Marathon and $135 for the Charity Challenge.
We will follow up as 'STAR' Fundracers are announced! Check this out for more info and to sign up for #TCABandOnTheRun: https://www.teencanceramerica.org/la-marathon-2018
The Teen Cancer America team is always inspiring in LA, Chicago and on tour. They are some of my partners who help each other shine and give back to the community.
