A hopeful mother whose greatest one and only wish is to see her son walk
Date Published:
As a parent, all we ever want is to see our children happy, healthy, and able to experience life to the fullest. My one and only wish is to see my little boy walk.
My son was born prematurely at just 6 months and suffered a Grade 2 brain bleed, which caused damage to his motor cortex. As a result, he was diagnosed with Spastic Cerebral Palsy. Every day, he faces challenges that most of us take for granted. The spasticity in his muscles prevents him from moving his body freely and independently.
Despite these obstacles, there is hope. Specialists have advised that with intensive therapy, five days a week for a full year, my son has an excellent chance of becoming mobile and taking those precious first independent steps. The cost of this life-changing therapy is R192,000.00, a figure that is unfortunately far beyond what I can afford on my own.
So far, I have managed to raise R12,500.00, which has already been used for therapy sessions that he has attended. Seeing the progress he has made has given me faith and motivation to keep fighting for his future.
Every contribution, no matter how small, brings my son one step closer to the opportunity of walking. I am not asking for luxury or comfort. I am simply asking for the chance to give my child the therapy he needs to achieve something many of us may never have to think twice about.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone who takes the time to read our story, share it, or contribute towards my son's therapy. Your kindness and generosity could help make my greatest wish come true: to see my little boy stand on his own and take his first steps.
With gratitude,
