Helping the homeless veterans

Date Published:

Hello everyone. My name is Steve Hamm. I'm a retired Army helicopter pilot (23 1/2 years), current Lifeflight pilot, Actor/Model. I have been deployed to Kosovo and multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan.

I started acting about 3 1/2 years ago and have been in numerous independent projects in Ohio, Michigan, and surrounding areas. My dream would be to make a splash in Hollywood but, if I don't, that's ok too.

So enough about me. The reason I'm writing this is to spotlight the numerous veterans in our country who are homeless. As a veteran, I know what it feels like to come home and receive a gracious welcome from family, friends, and even members of the community. I know what it feels like to relax in the comfort of your own home.

Sadly, many veterans from previous conflicts didn't receive the gracious homecomings that are practically tradition these days. They came home to hurtful words and hatred. Many of them ended up homeless and jobless. Too many veterans these days are still left homeless after they have proudly served this country.

My wish is that we can start helping these heroes and put an end to the homelessness situation/crisis. Everyone needs a place they can call their own.

Many thanks to Simonetta Lein for her graciousness in setting up a great organization like this.
