To Empower women through Skylit Training Centre.

Skylit Training Centre is a subsidiary of the umbrella Skylit Self Help Group and is located in the Soweto slums of Kayole in Nairobi, Kenya where the majority of households live under 2$ a day. Skylit Self Help Group is a community-based organization comprising women in the informal sector who came together to improve their community by establishing the Skylit training centre which would be a vehicle to equip underserved women with employability skills through tailoring and hairdressing classes, training that will help them integrate and improve the economic status of their families and the community as a whole. The main challenge we experience is the sustainability of the school's operation costs which sees the group members part with monthly contributions to keep the school afloat. Our wish is to be able to make the school self-operational and expand to be able to accommodate more young girls and women to curb poverty and also achieve gender equality in all forms and give them a better future.
