Life Is Tough Darling, But So Are You
Date Published: 2/19/2019
Life is tough darling, but so are you. What I had originally planned for my inspirational post this week changed after Saturday. Talking about fashion isn't important today. If you are a part of the Texas Tech family, you know what I'm referring too. It’s not important to go into the details. But it is important to talk about this-- Let's love and focus on what matters. This life we live isn't easy, but together we will persevere. There is strength when we come together as one. And it looks like this:
How do you show up every day? How do you rise to the occasion and show love during times of trial and tribulation? When someone else is in need? We all suffer equally; just differently. No one is free of hurt, sorrow, betrayal, or grief. And that’s the hard truth.
When someone we care about, someone we know through friends, or even someone we don’t know personally, is hurting; we all hurt. As humans we have a responsibility to show love and compassion. So what does that look like? For me that means going above and beyond to make sure other people in my life feel cared for and loved. Maybe for you that means making a financial donation to a charity. Or giving somebody a hug when they’re rough time.
I choose to wear my heart on my sleeve and do 100% everything in my power to help. To love. To support. To provide guidance and humor when it's appropriate. To pray. Because this life we live is so beautiful but also so short. Read that again. This life we live is precious. And it's not always fair either.
Today, before you leave the house for work or for school, please call the people who you love and tell them how much they mean to you. Hug your wife...your kids, your dog-- because you never know when it may be the last time. And I don’t say that lightly, as I lost my brother 15 years ago.
I would give anything to call my brother, Brian, today and tell him how much I love him. I can share my thoughts with him, just not on the phone. He’s in Heaven, so our conversation would sound something like this: “Brian I love you. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss you. Boy do I miss you. I make sure to live each day with enough life, enthusiasm and passion for the both of us. I'm taking care of mom and dad too. You should still be here, but you aren’t. So I blow a kiss to you in Heaven today. Can you send one down here? You might be far away, but in my heart you're always near. I will see you again, and until then; I promise to make you proud. Today, tomorrow and everyday. I love you.â€
With love, so much love,
Laura
Dedicated to the loving memory of N.O.'s two cousins who were brothers to him. May they soar high in Heaven. RIP.
