Fighting to Build a Future and Avoid Homelessness
Date Published:
I am writing this from a place of deep, suffocating pain, fear, and desperation. As I type these words right now, I am using data that I had to beg for just to get online and plead for a lifeline to save my life. I am a Grade 12 graduate with dreams of building a future, but because there was zero money for me to further my education, I am trapped. I live in a small town that is severely limited with zero opportunities. Every single day, I walk the longest, most exhausting distance to town on foot with my papers, handing out my CV everywhere, desperately looking for any kind of work, but every single door remains shut.
The lack of jobs is not the worst part of my life. My daily reality at home is a living nightmare of severe physical abuse, constant manipulation, and deep emotional trauma. This nightmare started when I was only 14 years old, when my mother kicked me out onto the streets for the first time. That experience of childhood homelessness was the most terrifying time of my life, walking the streets with nowhere to go, no food, and no one to turn to completely broke my soul. I eventually had to return out of pure survival, but since then, I have been turned into the absolute punching bag of this house.
I watch my mother treat my little sisters beautifully, showing them love and care, while I am completely unappreciated. Even when I worked hard and passed my Grade 12, an achievement that any parent would celebrate, it was completely ignored. Instead, I face constant physical violence. I have been beaten with belts and sticks, scratched with nails, and even threatened with knives by my mother and stepmother. One day I tried to stand up for myself and raised my voice to say that it was enough, but it ended up in the most terrifying situation where I was brutally beaten and threatened with the streets again. I cannot fight back and I cannot stand up for myself anymore because I am in constant, paralyzing terror of being homeless. My mother constantly manipulates me, telling me that I am nothing without her, that I have nowhere to run, and that I will always depend on her. I am forced to stay silent and take the pain because the alternative is the freezing street.
The only thing that has kept me alive and sane through the blood, tears, and darkness is my music. A random company blessed me with a free laptop from a fundraising drive, and I used it as my only weapon to fight for my future. But my tragedy truly started when my hard drive, which held over 700 fully produced songs representing years of my soul and hard work, completely crashed and broke. Seeing my entire life's work wiped out broke me into pieces. Yet, through the tears, I forced myself to start over from absolute scratch on that laptop. Since that crash, I have pushed upward against all odds to produce over 500 new songs.
Music is my talent, my sanity, and my only ticket out of this abusive cycle. But I am completely broke. I desperately need to fix my broken hard drive to recover my lost work, buy essential recording equipment to finish my new music, and buy data so I can finally get my work out to the world.
I am not asking for a temporary handout just to eat for a week. I am pleading for a lifeline to launch my musical career so I can become self sufficient, escape this environment of violence, secure a safe place to sleep, and finally live without fear.
Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward buying the essential setup equipment, fixing my hard drive, and getting the data I need to save my life and launch my career. If you cannot donate, I beg you from the bottom of my heart to please share my story. Thank you for reading, and for giving a young, broken creator a fighting chance to survive.
