A Rockin Activities Room for our Senior Residents

Date Published:

Dear Wish Wall Foundation,

My name is Elie Hurtado and I serve as the Resident Service Coordinator at the Briarwood Manor Apartments, located in Montclair, California. The Briarwood Manor Apartments are an affordable housing community for seniors and adults with disabilities. My responsibilities include assisting our low-income residents with identifying, locating and acquiring the services necessary for them to age gracefully in place. Many of our seniors are very frail and alone and only receive SSI. Most residents struggle to make ends meet with their limited incomes, and some isolate themselves worrying about how they will survive day to day.

I am reaching out to the Wish Wall Foundation to request your help to obtain furniture (sectional, sofa, table and or chairs) for our resident activity room, which is very bare at the moment and possibly a DVD player and a karaoke machine. My plan is for our activity room to be a place where our residents come together to spend quality time attending recreational activities and educational classes. Many of our residents are truly alone and do not have a support system. I think having a furnished activity room with amenities serves as more than just a place for comfort and entertainment, it’s a conduit for forging meaningful connections. I hope as residents gather to spend quality time in the activity room with their fellow peers, friendship blossom and isolation diminishes. I truly believe that this gesture will increase the quality of life of our residents by giving them an opportunity to have a place that draws togetherness and joy. Should you decide to help, in any way, your kind donation will be recognized as a tax-deductible contribution from your establishment. Pacific Housing, Inc. (PHI) will send you a thank you letter and a receipt indicating the exact amount of your donation and /or the estimated amount of your donated service expenses. Included in this letter is PHI’s 501(c) (3) Tax ID Number for your records and tax deduction purposes. In addition, enclosed I provided a picture of our activities room at the present time

. Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Cordially,

Elie Hurtado,
Resident Service Coordinator for Pacific Housing Inc.
