Help me Provide Lunch Children of St. Benard Mwenge Primary School

Date Published:

St. Benard Mwenge Primary School is a primary seven government aided school found in one of the rural and isolated sub county of Sere in Tororo District. The School was started by the Mill Hill Missionaries as a sub grade school in 1955 and later taken over by the government in 1981. The school has over the years seen tremendous decline in enrollment that currently stands about 400 pupils. This decline is due to lack of the many challenges the school is facing including lack of feeding/lunch for pupils as the children study the whole day without a meal and only get to eat when they return home late in the evening. This greatly affects so much the concertation of children in class. Even with these conditions, majority of the children are so determined to keep in school and learn and have kept in school though an equally huge numbers have dropped out due to the harsh conditions. Supporting these amazing children to get lunch while at school would be the best thing to come their way.
Another exciting news is that the School recently received a wonderful support from the Rotary Club in form of a multiple Million Uganda Shillings fully furnished Solar Kitchen facility which is ready for use. Please kindly check out the wonderful Kitchen in this link: Fully Furnished Sloar Kitchen at St. Benard Mwenge Primary School, in Tororo District .https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xbdRiSMC4bw
However, the Kitchen facility has remained redundant due to lack of food (Maize/Corn Flour and Beans) to cook for the children. Providing meals for the children while in school will enable them to continue with studies and not drop out, encourage those that dropped out to resume schooling, increase literacy, performance and empower the community for sustainable development.
According to the Ugandan school Calendar 2024, pupils will be in school for a record 260 days with termly distribution of 89 Days. And to provide a child with daily meals per term of 89 Days is $30.Therefore, to feed 400 Pupils, we need $12000
If our cause resonates with you, or if you're simply moved by kindness, please consider contributing to our fundraising project and enable the children have a meal while at School and this will go a long way in supporting the education. Thank you so much!
