Mushroom growing and processing for rural HIV/AIDS women and children victims’ life improvement project is a project that have been initiated by Integrated Development for marginalized community (after conducting a feasibility study on the viable nutritional project that can uplift the living standards of the rural poor women and children living and affected by HIV/AIDS in the area as an area that has also faced much problems like soil erosion, Uganda's Lira district). The study cantered on the Mushroom growing and processing project, whereby the main important part of the project is transformation of the targeted beneficiaries into commercial and organic quality mushroom growers in the area through spawn multiplication and skills development. And secondly, through the consumption of mushrooms, it will boost their immune system which will contribute and make them live long and also the sales of mushrooms will gain them daily income.
Aim – target group
- The project main target beneficiaries are rural women, mental health women, girls and children HIV/AIDS victims in Kilembe,Mbunga and Rukoki sub counties.

- Therefore, the project targets to mobilize and train 1000 women groups of both women and girls living with HIV/AIDS and then HIV child victims care takers (approximately 8000 women and girls) and finally train 800 representatives from all these groups to work as their focal community trainers in mushroom production.

The main purpose of the project is to empower the women living with HIV/AIDS and the HIV child victims ecommically and healthwise through engaging them in organic mushroom growing and processing that will lead them to achieve the following;-
- As the growing of mushrooms is easy not tiresome and does not require much investments it only require raw materials like corn-cobs, saw-dust e.t.c that all locally available, therefore, the growing of mushrooms will be friendly to them and become their reliable base and source for their daily income in the community.
- Through the daily consumption of fresh mushrooms, it will boost their immune system which will contribute and make them live more long as the species to be grown will be Shiitake and oyster which are considered to be health food because they contain larger amounts of qualitative good proteins, vitamins and minerals and further more they also reduce on blood pressure, tumours and viruses. We engage in organical and comercial mushroom growing In order to address malnutrition and unemployment in semi-rural Uganda, we cultivate mushrooms and train subsistence farmers as well people living with HIV
