Remote rural communities do not have access to electricity which contributes to the enormous challenges/problems especially in the health sector. Most health centres do not have access to power which limits and affects service provision by the health care workers. Pregnant mothers and their children have to travel long distances to access medical services.
Due to lack of electricity Mothers in labor cannot be attended to, emergency cases cannot be handled especially at night and children cannot be immunized due to lack of refrigeration for the vaccines.

Therefore, we wish to reduce this burden and challenges faced by mothers and children by installing a solar powered system in 2 health centers which will provide light at night to ease the work of health care workers when attending to mothers during delivery and refrigeration unit for the vaccines to ease access to immunization services by children aged 0 – 8years.
In the long run we wish to reduce on the maternal and infant mortality rates attributed to poor and lack of easy access health care services in rural communities.
