Help Establish a Book Bank to Keep Orphaned and Vulnerable Children in School

Hello everyone, my name is Zachery Onyango Founder and CEO of Development Alert-https://da.or.ug- a fully registered community based, not for profit, nongovernmental organization involved in empowering vulnerable and poor communities in the rural areas of Tororo district in Eastern Uganda.
Today, I’m writing to kindly request to join me in our mission of keeping vulnerable and orphaned children in school so that they can have a better future. As someone who experienced this nightmare growing up in a rural and poor household, I understand the nightmare children from poor households go through in effort to acquire education.
The plight of Orphans and Vulnerable children in any community is always well expressed in terms of lack of clothing, fees, feeding, housing, medical access and education support. In Uganda, 1.7 million and a third of all Ugandan families have had to foster orphaned children who urgently need protection and support. Vulnerable and orphaned children from extremely poor households struggle a lot to get scholastic materials and this is affecting them highly in their pursuit of education. Because these households are extremely poor and much as the children would love to keep in school provided under Universal Primary Education, most times they drop out of school due to lack of scholastic materials.
Without scholastic materials, orphans and children from extremely poor households do not go to school, miss writing notes and exercise, can’t revise, get traumatize because of the shame that comes with being singled out in class for not having writing materials and eventually dropout of school leading to increased illiteracy levels and lack of skills for survival and thus, keeping the community in a cycle of poverty and hopelessness.
Therefore, when the scholastic materials are distributed, the children are able to keep in school, acquire knowledge and are empowered for better livelihoods. Distributing scholastic materials to this community is so important for the children considering that nearly 50% of children in Uganda do not complete primary school attributed to high levels of poverty that makes it harder for children to get scholastic materials and other support needed to stay in school.
At Development Alert-https://da.or.ug we are already doing a massive job in spreading compassion and so far supported 634 children with scholastic materials. With your help, we can empower these young minds to reach their full potential and build a brighter future by continuously providing them with the necessary scholastic materials to keep in school.
We wish to raise $3,000 to establish a Book Bank to continuously provide scholastic materials for orphaned and vulnerable children every year.
How Funds will be used:
-$7: Books for one Child for a whole year
-$3: Pens for one Child for a whole year
