What is BLISS?
Date Published: 1/20/2017
Money can buy you a lot of "things," but it cannot buy a "feeling" like BLISS. It's true that you may derive great joy from the "things" you buy, but eventually, the happy "feeling" fades.
True BLISS, however, lasts a lifetime. BLISS is also not dependent on another person. The hard truth is that there isn't a single person on this planet who can give you eternal happiness. The only way to find your true BLISS is to dig deep into your heart and soul! I'm not here to define for the world what BLISS means but merely here to describe how I define it for me and maybe it will resonate with you too.
Human beings can have a tendency of making things more difficult than they need to be, but when it comes to BLISS, it is actually quite simple. It all comes down to gratitude. Gratitude for the things you have right now at this very moment. As you read these words, pay attention right now to your breath. Do you realize what a gift your breath is? You are alive! A good friend brought that to my attention, and now, dear friend, I'm sharing it with you. Because BLISS is about sharing.
BLISS comes in so many simple packages that you might overlook in the day-to-day hustle and bustle of life! BLISS can be gratitude that your basic needs are being met: food, water, shelter, clothing. Bliss can be the uplifted feeling you get when a friend or lover simply touches you during a time when you might be struggling with life. Or when a stranger on the street smiles at you. Or being grateful that you have eyes that can see the words on this page or view the glorious colors of a sunset as the day comes to its end.
BLISS is simply acknowledging and being grateful for what you have right now at this moment rather than desiring the things that you don't have - which ultimately leads you down a path of misery. And you know that's not a path you want to take!
So what is your BLISS?
Have you taken some time for yourself today to think about some of the things that bring you great joy? Keep in mind that BLISS isn't something that happens spontaneously. It takes ACTION, and therefore it takes PRACTICE. Make time every day to think about the simple things and the big things for which you feel grateful.
My wish is that anyone reading this will take a few quiet, deserving minutes for themselves, breathe and think about all the reasons they have to be blissful at this very moment. And I hope that when you're finished reading this, you will have a smile on your face!
