My Journey to Becoming a Doctor: A Plea for Support
Date Published: 10/07/2024
Hello, my name is Galaletsang Boipelo Modise, and I am from a small village called Tigane in South Africa. Growing up in Tigane, I have always dreamed of becoming a doctor and making a significant impact in the healthcare sector. Despite numerous challenges, I have remained determined and passionate about pursuing this goal.
Recently, I received an incredible opportunity to take a step closer to my dream. I have been accepted into the pre-med program at Trinity School of Medicine, starting in September. This acceptance is a pivotal moment in my life, as it represents the first crucial step toward achieving my ambition of becoming a doctor.
However, Trinity School of Medicine requires international students like myself to excel in their pre-med program before being fully funded for the MD program. This means I must achieve a high GPA, high MCAT scores, and excellent grades to secure full funding for my medical education.
The total cost for my pre-med program amounts to approximately $40,600, which is a substantial amount for me and my family. This is where I humbly ask for your help. To make this goal more manageable, I have set my first milestone target at $15,000. This amount will help cover the initial costs of tuition, essential supplies, and part of my living expenses for the first semester.
First Milestone: $15,000
Breakdown of Initial Expenses:
Tuition: $4,300
Records Fee: $475
Student Activity Fee: $50
Student Health Insurance: $1,300
Housing (Trinity Managed): $3,900
Credit (Deposits, Payments): $500
Additional Supplies and Miscellaneous Costs: $4,475
Your generous contribution will make a significant difference in my journey, allowing me to focus on my studies and achieve the academic excellence required to secure full funding for the MD program. Any amount, no matter how small, will bring me closer to my goal.
This opportunity is my only chance to pursue my medical education and make a difference in the world. If you can help, please contact me at +27 67 643 5146. Your support will not only change my life but also enable me to contribute to improving healthcare in my community and beyond.
Thank you for considering my request.
