A wish to start and operate a charitable organization (Non governmental organization) to educate, skill and empower boys and young men from humble backgrounds in Uganda.

In my country Uganda, before 1990, girls and women were treated as second class human beings and citizens. Most of the girls were not taken to school, not skilled, marginalized and were victims of early marriages, while women's rights weren't taken as a priority whereby women didn't have a formidable opportunity in politics, it was very rare to find a successful business/company started and operated by a woman. Most importantly, the formal sector was overwhelmingly dominated by the males while the women belonged to the kitchen due to the expensive marginalisation of the girls and women.
However, starting from around 1990 upto date, girls and women have been empowered, educated, skilled and their rights priotized. In order to achieve this, different laws have been put in place and others amended and a numbers of programs and initiatives have been put in place that largely flavours girls and women, for example females are given an additional 1.5 points while competing with males for government scholarships for university education. In the recent past there have been external education programs such as the BRAC secondary education program and the MASTERCARD FOUNDATION University funding program which mostly favoured girls. In terms of business, the UN WOMEN has a program which funds businesses/ companies majorly owned by women.
The above examples are some of the numerous initiatives that have benefited girls and women in area of education, skilling and empowerment. However, as it is a well known general rule that every issue has its advantages and disadvantages, and so is the case with the issue of priotizing the education and empowerment of girls and women which has come with increasing neglect and marginalisation of the boy child and young men. For example when the females are given an additional 1.5 points while competing for government scholarships means many males will miss out on an opportunity to acquire university education. Very many programs have excluded boys and young men from benefiting from them in favour of girls and women. This kind of gender discrimination of boys and young men for the last over 30 years has forced many boys and young men to be on the sidelines of life because the government, local and international organizations are so much focused on empowering and educating the girls and women leaving behind the boys and young young men. This has turned them into drug addicts, unskilled and unskilled citizens, criminals, irresponsible men who can't take care of themselves and their families(if any).
Therefore, due to such unfortunate and discriminatory state of affairs which I believe something has to be done about it and for a long time I have been having a desire and a wish to start and operate an impactful charitable organization (Non governmental organization) which will cater for the education, skilling and empowering brilliant boys and young men in Uganda. The logistics and requirements necessary to start and operate a charitable organization in terms of finances are high. At the moment I don't have the required funds to start the above mentioned organization, but I hope with the help of Wishwall Foundation, I can be able to get the funds so that my wish can become a reality.
