Education To Change The World

Date Published: 4/04/2016

Hello I hope you are doing well. I am reaching out as we are in a desperate way. My daughter who is an inspiration to so many has muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy is a Goodwill Ambassador and raises awareness. She wants to "Change The World", so all children with all abilities are accepted. She attends High Point University and right now we need a miracle and thought you might be able to help this amazing young lady. She has seen all the lives you have changed and is hoping you can help. Her name is Lauren Ashley, please please writing is too difficult to tell a story right now and I am afraid I am going to lose her. This is urgent she is 18 years old and a freshmen at high point university in North Carolina. After a lifetime of searching for a place she belongs, she has finally found this at High Point University. She is majoring in communications and hopes to one day be a producer or casting director or even a writer. She wants to show the world anything is possible and never give up on dreams.

Unfortunately, medical bills have made it impossible for Lauren to get the student loans she needs to continue her education. We have reached out to every person we know and humbly asked for help or cosigner. Sadly, we have no family able to help. We used our life savings for the first semester hoping and keeping Faith that we would find a way. Last week Lauren was told she needs to pay the balance or she must leave. She will not get credit for this semester that she has already worked so hard and has a 3.7 GPA and will be responsible for the balance. It is heartbreaking to see such an extraordinary young lady finally find her happiness to have it all taken away. Lauren has always done everything she can to help others through her speeches and fundraising events she attends to benefit Muscular Dystrophy Association and Shriners Hospital. She also serves dinner to homeless on Thanksgiving and makes sure every child she meets always has a smile.

Please if anyone can help with scholarships, donations, loans or any other support, you would change the lives of so many. Lauren will be forever grateful and be able to keep inspiring the lives of so many.

This was a speech Lauren gave at the Fire Convention, thanking everyone for the support to the MDA and telling her story. It was also the day before her 18th birthday, I don't think there was a dry eye at the end.

When Simonetta heard of Lauren months ago she asked what would her wish be. This is what Lauren said:

"My dream is to change the world. I want to share my story to inspire people that have faced challenges like me to never give up and to keep following their dreams. One day I wish to be accepted as an actress, a model a Producer or a casting director and walk the red carpet and although I am not perfect, I have scars and I walk with a limp It will be a wish come true because then that means society has accepted me, I am a diamond with flaws. Ready to inspire the world. My wish is to embrace who I am and for people to see my real talent and beauty and to finish my education at High Point University so I can inspire kids just like me to follow their dreams. I also wish for a way to pay for college I love so much. "

Thank you Simonetta for being such an amazing role model. http://youtu.be/mCPMxj-K-Wc
