Youths Skilling and Talents Nurturing

We are in dire need of financial support to help us build starter buildings for Youth talent development, Mindset Change, essential digital skills, and a poly practical market demand-driven Skills Training Center in the under-resourced communities of Galiraaya in Kayunga District of Uganda. The target beneficiary communities have donated land for the center and we are now looking for resources to build and set up pilot structures and equipment.
With your support, we will construct, furnish & kick-start a center for youth talent development, along with training in mindset change and short courses (Learning modules approach) in market demand-driven skills for job creation.
As BUVAD planned for its next five years 2023 to 2027, a stakeholder survey was conducted, which unearthed a need to empower the youths who are the biggest employable population to overcome redundancy and disorderliness. Following the recent prolonged COVID-19 lockdowns, many young girls become young mothers! We have an early motherhood boom in Kayunga. These young mothers need to be empowered with quick skills to fend for their premature responsibilities.
The survey exposed high crime rates due to drug abuse and substance use, generally high poverty levels, and as well poor local government revenue collections.
It was evident that youths in Kayunga have a wealth of marketable talents that are being soiled due to ignorance and lack of promotion to the market.
Other talents had not been discovered because of the gaps in the national educational curriculum in place and the lack of such a center like the one BUVAD intends to establish.
The mindset of the locals also needs to be polished for them to wisely plan and positively think in the direction of development and move away from drug abuse.
Talents in; Music, Dance, Drama, Fine Art, Muscle Arts, Skating, Athletics, Football, Indoor games, comedy shows, and many more shall be rejuvenated at this center.
These young stars have talent that can be marketed for income to develop their communities and households.
The long duration of skills training that makes the skills training courses expensive for sponsors of youths and self-sponsorship to centers has rendered the youths highly unemployed too!
BUVAD intends to train youths in well-broken down short courses (Learning modules) in market demand-driven skills which will make the course affordable, and hence a youth can learn in a short period of between 2 weeks to a month.
Thereafter, youth can start to earn money from the so far acquired skill, then will afterward upgrade still by level until after a period of one or more years, when he/she has an enriched brain with a buffet of market demand-driven skills.
These skills shall be market demand-driven skills somehow different from the traditional vocational skills. Some of these will include; Essential digital skills, Soap making, shoe repairing, matchbox making, handcrafts making, sewing and knitting, portable solar charger making, juice making, furniture making, electronics repair, bricks making, tiles making, building, metal welding, mini waste recycling and up-cycling, mini businesses establishment, sports like cricket, soccer, skating, athletics, indoor games and more will be developed.
Trainers of skills at the center will be recruited on the grounds that they will have shared their training modules and product samples of between 2 weeks to 1 month with the center's careers department. Once approved and accepted, the trainer will be recruited to the center to train that given skill.
The youths of the under-resourced communities of Galiraaya sub-county, Kayunga District, and Uganda as a whole are the target beneficiaries of this project.
The support to the project needed includes:
Funds and Human resources for the establishment and furnishing of the center are needed and welcome!
Volunteer trainers to the talent development or skills training sections are needed and welcome!
BUVAD has a piece of land already donated by the community to kick-start this project.
A Starter budget for the starter lecture room, store room, staff room, and center fencing of 11,910.34 United States Dollar or Ugx: 44,198,000 is needed to be raised. In-kind material donations to promote any course will be very welcome!
