Rehabilitation and resettlement of street children

Date Published:

Law enforcers in Mbarara city in Uganda have started to pick street children off the streets and send them to designated prison facilities. For the last 5 years, I have been working with my friend in the background, gathering atleast 30 the street children at our local church every Sarturday and engaging them in games, spots, music, positively influencing them. In our small effort, we have managed to send 26 children back to school. With this new law enforcement, we wish we could rent a place that we can use as a temporary home for these children for their rehabilitation and transition and in it we can provide some food, hygiene products, warm clothes, bedding and support the necessary manpower.
