The Power of Dreams

Date Published: 11/03/2016

I would not be writing this post without Tesla. A man whom inspires me still to this day. A reclusive genius absolutely consumed by his passion. You can only imagine how a man with relative genius in today's world may be viewed by society. That is the problem with our dreams. They are ours. And others who are not living theirs may be consumed by their own habit of believing they're always right, by telling YOU that following yours is an exercise in futility.

I'm here to tell you. Don't listen to them! Chances are you're not anyway, as you're here, reading this. And that is wise!! ;)

People often mean well of course. Wanting the "best" for us (and it's always worth considering practically as some may be helpful to expressing your dreams). The best being what they deem to be acceptable or practicable by their own perspective and perceptions. Or the ego as I call it... but they cannot possibly (and neither should they) feel your very deepest sense of purpose. That is sacred to ourselves. Sacrosanct.

Far too many of life's most wondrous achievements have come about from people who were likely viewed at times as near, or literally even, insane! But I do genuinely believe that your dreams are sacred. That we have a worldly and moral duty to follow them.

So what is the "dream" I speak of? It's your passion. The TRUE passion. Not wanting more money. Or your spouse to listen to you more. Or get a bargain in the supermarket etc. I mean your core. The essence of what makes you, you. It could be writing music, bringing more peace to the world, inventing, a positive desire, it's most often found in service or creativity. The universe itself is constantly expanding and creating new world's that defy our present scientific understanding. We are an intrinsic and inseparable part of this universe. Nature itself is creative and expresses itself often in the most hostile and incredible of environments. We are part of that. It's not some hippy nonsense. It's an inescapable fact. So why would we be different?

We aren't!

The hum-drum of daily life can take its toll when you're not living your true passion. Even if it's just a hobby at first. Something you allow yourself to do in private. We are often scared of expressing our creative passions for fear of what others may think of our work. Or that we may not be good enough. Or as good as such and such. Why? Because that's when we are TRULY baring our soul for others to see and therefore judge... such is our world.

So yes, it can take courage to follow, or even embrace, our true passions, but the reward for doing so can be incredible. It may not bring you great riches, but it will allow you to be more YOU. Never underestimate the value of this. Oh and NEVER chase your dreams FOR money. That's a surefire way to poison them or attach negative emotions or other experiences.

The questions I always ask people, unsure of what their true passion and dream is, are these: If money didn't matter and you could do anything safely without others judging you, what would you do? And what have you always felt drawn to? This is about the very core of who you are.

It's not always easy to discover. But it's always worth it!

So if you've always felt drawn to painting for example. Go buy some paints and paint. If you've never painted before, even if it's your calling, don't expect to be Picasso overnight. It still takes work. Practice. Anything does. Enjoy the journey. We never stop learning. That's the wonderful thing about our passion and dreams. The pleasure is in experiencing constant improvement and in their expression!

So what are you waiting for? No one else is going to, or indeed could or should do it for you! ;)

So go on, EXPRESS YOUR DREAMS, and enjoy the journey to their fulfilment!
