FE: Respect & results

“Great communication begins with connection.†~Oprah Winfrey
In the U.S.A., we’re waiting for results after Election Day. Let’s take this time to consider effective communication and results. Have you found yourself “just following up If this phrase or email was effective why would you have to keep following up with someone 8-10 times?
Think about your last pitch or call with a prospect. As entrepreneurs we may have several pitches in motion, so this can save time and help you gain respect:
Did you ask your prospect when you will continue the conversation? Or will the next step be or define how to communicate openly?
If you don’t establish what happens next, you may turn into the annoying “sales person†who is “just following up.â€
Refine your approach, and you’ll change your results. Instead of using bland language like your competition, say something different. If you don’t, you will blend right in…and you may become the noise.
Don’t use
"I was just checking in, following up, touching base, reaching out."
Do lead with
“The last time we spoke we covered….
“We last spoke you mentioned…"
"In our last conversation, you wanted me to…"
Spark your creativity! Stand out and shine through the noise of sameness!
Recap emails help you to reference your first conversation with the prospect and how your solution could address their pain points.
If a prospect is wading through hundreds of emails, leading with a recap of the initial conversation you had with them is an efficient reminder that they’ve already spoken with you, and haven’t responded.
A summarized email ensures you are both of the same mind before you move forward, and garners respect.
