Enhancing Food Security and Nutrition through Kitchen Garden Water Reserve Tanks.

Our wish involves installing 20 plastic water reserve tanks specifically to support existing kitchen gardens of 40 St. Monica Women's Group members in Nyakahya 1 cell, Nyakahya Ward in Mpondwe Lhubiriha town council, Kasese district in Uganda. Every 2 beneficiaries will receive 1 tank of 3000 liters capacity; the tanks will be connected to be able to harvest water from 40 houses and to store water through pipes taped from gravity flow waters. This wish has been suggested by the group members themselves after realizing that their kitchen gardens tend to be less productive due unreliable water supply that is required to irrigate them.
Our wish objectives are:
To enhance food security and nutrition Nyakahya 1 cell by establishing a reliable water reserve system specifically for kitchen gardens.
Install 20 water reserve tanks with a combined capacity of 60,000 liters at 20 households accessible to kitchen gardens.
Provide training on water-efficient kitchen gardening techniques, including rainwater harvesting and drip irrigation.
Increase the number of households actively maintaining productive kitchen gardens.

Our wish requires USD 7,455 mainly to purchase 20 water reserve tanks,60 gutters,60 joints,20 gutter valleys,60 gutter joints,20 corners,5 rolls of pipess,20 water taps, 60 kilograms of nails,80 bags of cement, transport costs, installation charges, and paying trainers.

Our wish is expected to lead to the following impacts:

Increased adoption of water-efficient kitchen gardening practices
Increased access to fresh, nutritious produce for 40 households.
Improved household food security and dietary diversity.
Enhanced nutritional intake, particularly among vulnerable women and children
Strengthened community resilience to food insecurity.
