Kenya Conservation Project

Dear Sir/Madam or To Whom It May Concern

I am a Leader in Girlguiding with a Unit in Girlguiding Walsall North Division. I have been a part of Girlguiding since I was 5 and I am not 31 continuing to be a leader in our Ranger unit. I am proud and very fortunate to have been selected to represent Girlguiding West Mercia, as a member of a team travelling out to Kenya in July 2026.

While in Kenya, our team will be engaged in a conservation project, which involves contributing to the construction of a school, making desks and chairs, painting classrooms, and teaching the children of Mombasa. Mombasa, Kenya's second-largest city, is home to approximately 1,200,000 people, with a significant portion living in poverty. In fact, 44% of the population survives on less than £1.50 per day. We are supporting a school located in Mtwapa, Mombasa, aimed at providing education and care for 150 - 200 underprivileged children, some of whom come from destitute families or are orphaned. As part of our support, we plan to provide all the children in the school with blue summer dresses and shirts.
Additionally, I will be learning Swahili, joinery, and even plumbing to contribute to the local community.

It will also be an opportunity for me to develop many life and personal skills, to share my knowledge and skills with others and to make international friends. To experience an international event in another country is a wonderful, and possibly once in a lifetime, opportunity for me as a member of the largest organisation for girls and young women in the UK and as a member of WAGGGS (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts) which is a worldwide movement of 10 million girls, young women and adult leaders in 145 countries. For this wonderful opportunity, I have to raise £3800 I would be extremely grateful if you would be able to offer any financial assistance or a gift which could be used as a raffle prize to help me with my fundraising. Following my visit to Kenya, I would willingly make a report or give a talk about my experiences in Kenya to you. I really hope that you will be able to support me and I look forward to receiving your reply.
