And so the legend goes: Eddie Vedder, lifelong ocean aficionado and Pearl Jam front man gathered friends and bands for a festival to wrap summer, right on the beach where he first learned to surf. After a year hiatus, we took to the beach with vaccination cards in hand, music in our hearts and hope in our souls.
This year we were not disappointed. From Eddie Vedder filling in for Kings of Leon (due to a family medical emergency) backed by Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) on drums to Pearl Jam performing new Gigaton tracks and deep cuts, and women of rock and blues to guitar heroes and sheroes, Ohana Fest was on fire (like a festive Hawaiian fire dancer)!
Anticipation was high and we started meeting friends in concert at out hotel, on the beach and in the VIP luau setting. Our hope sparked energy on the Doheny Beach festival grounds that seemed to grow more radiant and positive, with the pure joy of seeing people and live music IRL again. The sun-kissed glow eased into cooler nights, adding magic to the elegant golden sunset on each of the fest’s three nights.

This year I had a chance to mingle with the talented, ethereal Olivia Vedder, one of my favorite artists Wyland and several Teen Cancer America friends. Sean Penn was nearby with stories and music from “Flag Dayâ€. Our posse appreciated the new tracks, talking story and heart-warming favorites.
We applaud the authenticity from the start: Ohana Festival committed to being a sustainable music festival that brings awareness to current environmental issues that impact our coastlines and planet. The festival continues to promote its BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) water stations that encourages all attendees to use their own reusable bottles at the numerous refill stations located on site. The festival also strives to reduce its overall carbon footprint annually by diverting waste from landfills with more compostable materials available as alternatives and offering recycling bins throughout the event. These are a few of many reasons that we’re proud to be part of this year’s festival. See you on the flip side this weekend for Ohana Encore! Alohaaahh!
