Studying in Magoggo Village in Kakiri Sub County in Wakiso is one of the hardest thing to happen to any child. Being a rural area without power, running water and poor road network, investments in terms of schools have for long alluded this area making so many children to not go to school since the nearest schools are over 10 miles away making it inaccessible since most of the communities are poor and without means of mobility to reach the school.
However, the goods new is that the community in partnership with Ministry of Education and Sports established Masimbi High School in a central village of Village of Magoggo in order to bring education closer to the communities that had for so long been left out.
Masimbi High School in its first year has an overwhelming enrollment of over 300 students and this made it so hard to the school to be able to handle lessons since the school does not have enough classrooms to accommodate teaching of the current population effectively. Among the other challenges, Masimbi High School is operated without a Computer, Library, teachers’ quarters and these have negatively affected the learning of so many children from poor households in this rural areas of Wakiso.
As the only Secondary School in the region and considering that it is a new school, there is so much need for infrastructure development in order for the school and the community to have a conducive learning environment. Since the school mainly supports learners from rural and poor households, it is the only opportunity for children from these communities to access education.
