Improving the livelihoods, well-being and mental health of vulnerable single mothers, pregnant adolescent girls and young mothers.

My wish is to improve the livelihoods, well-being and mental health of vulnerable single mothers , pregnant adolescent girls and young mothers in Malawis rural, Thyolo district, Blantyre. I wish to do this through engaging these women into different generating income projects, psychosocial counseling and capacity building. My wish expands to building communities of vulnerable young mothers who are self-reliant and encouraging them to believe that they can reach their full potential despite stigma, discrimination and negative stereotypes that young expectant mothers and single mothers face in our communities. Not having a source of income, no tertiary education and no qualification to be engaged in formal employment often leads single mothers , expectant adolescents girls and young mothers into acts of desperation like suicide, killing their babies, disposing their babies and immoral sexual acts that result in HIV and other sexual transmitted diseases. If my wish could be granted to get financial assistant to help 150 single mothers, pregnant adolescents girls, young mothers in Malawi's village, financial assistant to purchase tailoring machines, sausage making machines and start vegetable and poultry farming for these vulnerable young mothers in order for them to take care of their children and provide for their children essential basics like food , clothing and medical insurance and also support themselves and their well-being, I will create a self-reliant community that is immune to discrimination and stigma because of the change i wish to bring to their status. Empowering 150 of them will build confidence in other single mothers in neighboring villages as well. This group of marginalized women is always left out in Malawi and i wish to stand in the gap and help these women to realize their full potential and understand that together as women we can. I wish to build strong mothers who will raise future leaders of Malawi and this world as a whole.
