My Dream Is to Break a Family Cycle Through Education
For most people, a university degree is an achievement. For me, it represents generations of hope.
I am a mother, a wife, and someone who works hard every single day. I wake up each morning knowing that my family depends on me, and I carry that responsibility with pride. Like so many families, we have faced financial struggles, unexpected setbacks, and moments where it felt like simply getting through the month was a victory.
But through everything, one dream has never changed.
My daughter dreams of attending Stellenbosch University. She has worked hard, she believes in herself, and she wants to build a future where she can make a difference. As a parent, there is nothing I want more than to stand beside her on registration day and tell her, "You made it."
The truth is that university is expensive. Tuition, accommodation, books, transport, and everyday living costs add up to an amount that feels impossible for our family. Yet I refuse to let "impossible" become the end of our story.
I am not asking for a handout because I don't want to work. I already work hard every day. I am asking because sometimes even the hardest-working families cannot overcome every obstacle alone.
I believe education changes lives. It doesn't only change one person's future—it changes an entire family, and often generations that follow. If my daughter is given this opportunity, she won't just earn a qualification. She will become living proof that dreams can survive hardship and that determination can overcome circumstance.
My wish is simple:
I wish for the opportunity to help my daughter attend university without financial barriers standing in the way of her future.
Whether someone offers financial support, advice, a scholarship opportunity, mentorship, or simply shares our story with someone who can help, every act of kindness brings us one step closer to making this dream a reality.
If you've ever had someone believe in you when the odds were against you, then you already know the power a single person can have in changing someone else's life.
Perhaps today, that person could be you.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for believing that hope is always worth investing in.
