Save Lives One At a Time Through Kidneys & Kindness

Five years ago I began a journey to look at my life and see what resources I have been blessed with to help other people. That is when I discovered that my 2nd kidney was not really a 2nd kidney, but an extra one.
I spent a year learning about the process of kidney donation and then was blessed to save the life of a total stranger, a single mother of three children.
Since I can no longer give away kidneys, I have continued to explore how I can help the world. That desire compelled me to write the first of its kind book, a question and answer guide, sharing the inspirational roadmap to how anyone can explore kidney donation.
While the book does not attempt to convince people to give their kidneys away, it invites people to think about kindness and the extent that one would go to save the lives of others in need.
The book pre-launched on Kickstarter at the beginning of September (www.akidneydonor.com), in the hopes of raising funds to translate the book into many languages and to market and distribute it worldwide. Amazingly, in only two weeks, thousands of people have seen the promotional video, and before the book has officially launched, it has already made waves.
Last week I was featured on the CBS morning show, and this week in a segment on 60 Minutes! Emails are pouring in from people all around the world, wanting to discuss kindness and organ donation. I have even had several calls from producers inviting me to consider my own TV show. The outpouring has been incredible.
Yet, as a kidney donor, we tend not to want attention, nor to ask for help. Yet, I continue to force myself to break my silence so that I can be the voice for those in need. It is my hope, my wish, and my prayer that this book inspires people to live life to the fullest and share the many gifts that we are blessed to have with other people.
