With the number of cars increasing on Ugandan roads, its also true that there is an increase in mechanical waste, it is said that a car owner changes a tyre because the old one is worn out, this is always done at least once every year, to avoid cluttering homes spaces, used tyres could be recycled to create amazing décor for both indoor and out door spaces, with days of burning tyres for the sake of it behind us, one has to find ways of giving worn out tyres a new life to ensure they don't become part of clutter problem they have to deal with. Here are some few things used tyres can be turned into to spice up our door space.
1. garden table, you don't really need to be good with your hands to create an mazing garden table from tyres, all you may need is paint of your choice then you will need industrial glue together two tyres one on top of the other , you can then place your desired table top, some prefer wood though glass is ideal.
2. Creative planter, planters have of late become a décor trend especially those one hanging on things, tyres can perfectly play the role of planters and that's regardless of the way you want to use them, they can be installed on a wall, floor or hang them using a rope to help it hang, however tyres can be used or improvised to grow flowers, fruits not consumable plants such as fruits, food or vegetables because rubber car tyres contains a range of material that release toxins that are neither good for the soil, plant or human consumption.
3.Tyre swing, old tyres makes some best swings, they have been at it for some years in homes and schools, all they need is strong rope and tyre and tree to complete the puzzle.
4.stools, someone may need a seat pad or two in their backyard, you will just need pain, a tyre, and a flat top that can be attached then with a simple cushion or pillow to make sure that the tyre stool is comfortable enough. All that is needed is to move around garages in towns, around homes even on streets picking dumped worn out tyres, train identified women on how to upcycle worn out car tyres into a new life. Women will get skills by the end of the training, they will get jobs, this will be a source of income and in turn they will also train other women in different communities in kasese. I hope that this proposed project will improve the lives of women/ widows in our community, i thank the WishWall Foundation for giving us the platform to express A Wish that can be seen by many all over the world for support and partnership. thank you.
