The applying organisation is MARLVIA SHE GLOBAL INITIATIVE a legally registered NGO licenced to operate in Kamuli District and other parts of Uganda (East Africa) whose quest is to carry out activities in the field of reaching out to vulnerable groups, providing basic needs to vulnerable children, promoting easy accessibility for developing talent, establishing empowerment projects &promoting of livelihoods among the deprived plus advocating & strengthening legal framework programs for the Girl Child protection.
OUR VISION is to create life changing wishes and opportunities where everyone can belong & thrive.
OUR MISSION is to create life changing wishes and opportunities for vulnerable groups.
Our niche is focused on the "Girl Chid" who is still in school in the rural schools of Kamuli District that can't afford buying sanitary pads on the monthly basis since many of these girls come from improverished households hence many resort to use of unhygienic materials like old pieces of cloth, sponge, papers, sand, banana fibres plus reaching an extent of missing class inorder to manage their periods, even some tend to drop out of school because of fear of leaks, uncomfort, stigmatisation.
OUR WISH
is to tackle period poverty by "crowning a Girl Child with the provision of sanitary pads" to school going Girl Chid in the rural schools of Kamuli District plus sensitising them about Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM). This will reduce on the inability of accessing sanitary products due to financial poverty, school absenteeism since on average girls are missing at least three days of school a month due to their periods, boost academic performance plus boosting the girls self confidence and reclaiming their dignity as Girls in school and in the communities were they live.
We also wish to teach these girls how make reusable sanitary pads and making them accessible to school going Girl Child in the rural schools of Kamuli District. We aim to indulge the boys too, fostering a more inclusive understanding about menstruation, sexual reproductive health & help to dispel the myths related to Menstruation.
Because we believe an empowered Girl Child can change the world when she remains in school, gains self esteem & confidence plus breaking the viscous cycle of poverty in the long run.
