Accept Now
Date Published:
I love having goals, in fact I can't really remember ever not having them and I tend to be pretty good at reaching them once I put my mind to it. Which is great except for when life throws an unexpected curveball (like a fourth pregnancy) that slows things - like writing a book and meeting Oprah - down, or when I'm so focused on the end result I miss out on the now, and sometimes when the goal isn't really what I want anymore but I chase it out of stubbornness.
This pregnancy has meant I've been unable to work, and I've struggled with not earning my own money, with the idea of being home all day, with my changing body and the fact that all my goals seemed to be on hold. All of which were leaving me feeling frustrated & depressed. But last week something changed, I stopped fighting my situation and accepted it for what it is - almost instantly I felt lighter and was able to see the good in and say thank you for what I was previously resenting.
Sometimes we need to pause and re evaluate. It's ok if things are going slower or in a different direction than you planned. When we accept now instead of fighting it, it's easier to see whether change is really needed and if it is how to make it happen.
