to get the donation to put up income generating project hall
Date Published:
I am writing to you on behalf of our Cistercian monastic community in Sri Lanka, established with the blessing of His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith. We are a young and growing contemplative community, deeply rooted in the Cistercian tradition of prayer, simplicity, and manual labor.
As monks, we are committed to living a life of self-sufficiency, in fidelity to the spirit of “ora et labora” — prayer and work. We do not engage in parish ministry, as our vocation calls us to a life of contemplation and community. Therefore, it is essential for us to sustain ourselves through the work of our own hands.
In this regard, we have initiated small income-generating projects such as the production of homemade jam, fruit cordials, and purified bottled water. These efforts not only support our daily needs but also reflect the dignity of labor and responsible stewardship of the resources available to us.
However, our current limitation is the lack of a proper facility to carry out these activities efficiently and hygienically. We are in urgent need of a simple project hall that can serve as a production and storage space for these initiatives. Such a hall would enable us to expand our work, improve quality standards, and ensure a stable and sustainable source of income for our community.
We humbly seek your support in helping us to construct this project hall. Your assistance would not only help us become self-reliant but also strengthen a monastic presence that contributes spiritually and socially to the Church and society in Sri Lanka.
We would be grateful for any information regarding possible funding opportunities or application procedures. Should you require further details, we are happy to provide them.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Be assured of our prayers for you and your mission.
