Yana Foundation is an independent Sri Lankan Non-Governmental Community Based Organisation (CBO) Registered with Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) under P19/0089 and Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) and SLASU/SU/S/00196.
Our main objective has been provision of Education services to improve literacy levels of the nation in formal and Non-formal Education through Social integration training awareness, knowledge and development programs.
Some of the Vulnerable Communities we have been servicing include; Gopalapuram, Kuchchiveli-Trancomalee District through our Social action and Moral Education.
As an Organisation, we have been dedicated towards providing essential aquatic training services to our local community for the last 3 years
Our mission is to empower Community beneficiaries with lifesaving skills particularly in water safety and aquatic rescue techniques as part of their training courses. However, despite our huge efforts, we have been facing a significant challenge: the lack of proper First Aid training equipment. We believe that having the right tools is crucial for effective training and emergency preparedness. In a bid to realise our training objectives, the Organisation against all odds made a wooden manikin and printed First Aid training slides for demonstration purposes. The trainees also sleep directly on the floor as a result of lack of an emergency training blanket.
Over the years, we have reached out to local well-wishers, Community Leaders and corporate bodies, seeking support to acquire these essential First Aid equipment.
Unfortunately, our efforts have not yielded the desired results. We understand that resources are limited, but we remain committed to our cause with your generous support.
Against this background, we wish to extend our appeal beyond our borders. We kindly request your esteemed Institution’s assistance in providing the following critical First Aid training equipment;
1. CPR Manikins (Adult and Infant); these Manikins are essential for practicing Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques. They allow our trainers to demonstrate proper chest compressions and rescue breathing.
2. AED (Automated External Defibrillator): Having an AED onsite during aquatic training sessions can be a lifesaver. It ensures timely interventions in case of cardiac emergencies.
3. First Aid Kits: Basic First Aid supplies including bandages, antiseptics and wound dressing are essential for any emergency situation.
4. Rescue Tubes and Buoyancy Aids: These Aids are crucial for water rescue scenarios especially in pools and open water.
5. An oxygen kit (Portable)
This is very important for the following functions:
• Emergency medical situations
• First Aid Trauma
• High altitude environment
• Post-surgery recovery
• Chronic conditions
• Sports and fitness:
Some athletes use oxygen kits during intense workout or training sessions to enhance performance and recovery.
6. Emergency blankets
These are also known as ‘thermal blankets’, are essential in first aid .They are usually light weight, compact and highly reflective blankets designed to help maintain body heat, temperature, provide protection in emergency situations.
7. A spinal board
Used for pre Hospital trauma care. Its purpose is to provide rigid support during the movement of a person with suspected spinal or limb injuries.
8. A rescue Board
Used for rapidly deployed craft, used for water and ice operations. Emergency responders use these boards to conduct searches and rescue efforts for victims in marine environments.
9. A Dingy Boat with an engine
These are essential for Rescue operations; in emergency situations, they assist in rescue operations, especially in shallow waters or estuaries.
We believe that by equipping our trainers with these tools, we will enhance the quality of our training programs and better prepare our beneficiaries to respond effectively during emergencies.
Your support would make a significant impact, not only in our local Communities, but also in promoting water safety in our Country, and globally. We are open to discussing any collaborations or partnership opportunities that align with your cooperate social responsibilities, Organisational and individual goals.
