Happy Indigenous People’s Day!

Date Published: 10/11/2017

This past Monday was a historic day for the city of Los Angeles and Indigenous people everywhere as they celebrated the inaugural Indigenous People’s Day. While I was driving around town I felt a different vibe from the city. I don’t think most people took notice, but some believed the indigenous spirits of this land we're grateful. Â

My wish for this week is for you to figure out what tribe your town belonged to before Manifest Destiny. The region in Los Angeles that I live in was the Tongva territory. The Tongva tribe first settled on the Sepulveda Bison where the original 405 freeway is now located. It was home to thousands of Tongva people before Spanish settlers arrived.

Its time to learn more about the people who helped shape our land all across the nation. Feel free to email me at andrew@wetakenote.com and let me know what you learned!

Peace and Love,
